Letter to the Editor: from Joan Mruk, Former Wayne Township Supervisor

Dear Editor,
It has come to my attention that the Democrat candidate, Jennifer Dziepak, has publicly stated that "she is the first woman ever to run for the office of Wayne Township Supervisor". With that uninformed sentence she has erased 35 years of public service and dedication to the residents of Wayne Township.
I am Joan Mruk, 3 term Wayne Township Supervisor, 5 term Wayne Township Trustee, 2 term President of the Wayne Township Pantry& Senior Services, Not-for-Profit organization. I am also definitely a woman!
If Ms. Dziepak had bothered to learn anything about the position she is campaigning for, or attended a board meeting or visited the Township building (where my name appears above both entrances of the Senior Center wing) she would know her statement is a falsehood!
During my 12 years as Supervisor I purchased the current building on North Ave., started the Senior Program, developed the Food Pantry, instituted the student tutoring and counseling services known as WAYS, rescued and rehabbed the historic Wayne Center Cemetery, served 10 years on the Board of Directors of Township Officials of Illinois, taught General Assistance classes to Supervisors all across the State and many other innovations too numerous to list.
Most importantly, before ever running for office, I spent nearly a year attending Wayne Township board meetings and TOI classes to learn the legalities and responsibilities of township government. The position of Supervisor is not a "fly by the seat of your pants", "learn as you go" type of job. You are the leader, the signature on the check, the "buck stops here" person!
I think you can see I know what I'm talking about when it comes to Wayne Township!
It seems to me that this candidate is not ready for this responsibility. She has not done her homework! My choice and I ask all your readers to do the same, is SUPERVISOR RANDY RAMEY - he is KNOWLEDGEABLE, RESPONSIBLE AND PREPARED!
Please vote for Randy and the entire Neighbors for Wayne Township Republican Team on April 6, 2021!
Sincerely.
Joan Mruk
